I am working on a '47 H and recently put the tank back on the chassis. From studying the parts manual and my own recollection I came up with the following: The tank rides on this big rubbery washer (about 3" diameter and 1/4" thick. Below the big washer is the support and below this is the spring, followed by a metal washer with a castillated nut and a cotter pin. I cut new studs (7/16"-NF-3 lg) and drilled a hole for the cotter. It seems I need to add some flat washers (below the spring) to stiffen the mount because at certain engine speeds the tank oscillates in a sympathetic motion.
