I can't seem to find my book that shows the suffix meaning, but basically, if there is NO suffix, it was originally a distillate fuel burner. A kerosene burner would have a suffix all its own, and the gasoline option for sure is X1. But, there is also some speculation that a few of the gasoline optioned tractors may have left the factory without the X1 suffix on the tag. For some reason, I'm thinking the kerosene burners had the suffix X5, but don't quote me.
