I chimed in on the thread you've got going about the wiring, so as to your other question, a parts manual can be quite handy for seeing how things are put together, and for getting parts numbers that can be crossed by a CaseIH dealer, and (for a lot of things) by a good counterman at NAPA . . .
Two others I'd recommend. One is the IH Blue Ribbon Service Manual. The other is the I&T Manual #IH-8. They overlap quite a bit, but there's just enough in each one that isn't in the other that I've found them both quite useful in working on both my Farmalls. (One needed a motor job and some odds and ends, the other was a basket case.)
As for sources, the parts and service manuals can probably be had from the sales dept. here on YT. I got mine from binderbooks.com along with (I think) the I&T. They're also on ebay quite a bit.
Good luck and be sure and drop in if you think we can help.
