I don't have have a parts book that list the 1000 rpm units so I can't compare the internals with the 540 units. I do know the 540 gear boxes are offered in several ratios.
However, the ratios are fairly close to 1-to-1. A little plus and a little minus. The ratios are probably similar to the Cub and A/C right angle boxes.
The gearbox offered on eBay may be the same as the 540 box but fitted with a 540/1000 adaptor. The adaptor wouldn't require more than 3/4" additional space which could be made up with a spacer between the tractor and gearbox.
I don't know if these assumptions are correct. I am just guessing. If they were the same, it would be cheaper to inventory only one box and the conversion parts.
