It could be that your starter locked up. This is something that happens a couple of times a year to me. The fix is to shut off the ingition switch, put the transmission in 5th gear, grab a rear tire and start rocking till you see the fan blade move. Then try to start it. The other fix is to loosen the starter mount bolts most of the way then grab the starter and jiggle it. Tighten the bolts and try it. Niether fix will prevent the starter from locking up again but both will get you up and running.
