It made me feel real stupid. I had bought this tractor in real good shape, but it had a pipe cap on the fill and I never thought a thing about it. The tractor had been used in Kansas to power an emergency generator for a grocery store. It had been inside for twenty years or more,and well cared for.
I don't have pressure quick disconnects so I always have to lower implements before disconnecting. My second error here was, in a hurry of course, hooking the cultipacker up to make sure the tractr would lift it off the stop, then thinking "don't be a fool check the hydraulic fluid" so I topped it off with the implement raised which I rarely do. Even in the field when replenishing a leaky hydraulic system the implement is usually on the ground because you don't know it needs fluid until it won't lift.
