JT, you are more generous than I am. I have s complete set upto and including 2" but I would never loan out any of the big ones. It is just not worth it.
Will I get it back and if I do, will it be damaged? On top of that, it is doubtful that a shade tree mechanic could actually use it. A tap that size needs a torque multiplier if metal is going to be cut.
That brings up the question of where to do it. Bolted to the tractor or in a vise. If the manifold is fragile, it will have to be done in a vise and that means a big vise.
Most manifold threads can be made serviceable with a good cleaning via sandblasting.
