I use a 656 gas as my loader tractor, always had problems with the choke having to be out until the engine warmed up, and it usually still wanted some choke.
I solved my problem by removing the solenoid and plugging the port with a bolt: I just have to let her warm up and then she runs fine with no choke. Also, and most important, make sure the valve in the manifold is open. Thats what that little bi-metal coil on the side of the manifold controls. When it gets rusty, the valve sticks, sometimes in the wrong position.
Since you changed the solenoid, try changing the bi-metal coil, and making sure the shaft it mounts on turns freely. Trust me, it drove me nuts for awhile too. Until I just took the troublemaker off.
