Although terminology seems to differ a bit depending on what part of the country or planet the issue is being referenced, there are some common terms that seem to prevail.
Your right, wide tread or narrow tread usually deals with the rear wheels, whereas NF or WF would mean narrow front or wide front. Fairway usually refers to configurations designed for operation on golf courses and they are wide, small diameter tires or steel wheels and usually wide front or standard.
I'm sure there are folks who can think of a lot more variations and the manner in which they are referenced than have been in this brief post.
