The drive end is about a half inch diameter shaft about a .75 inches long with a a female half round slot on the inside. This shaft also has a couple dimples on the outside diameter.
There's still a plate on top mostly covering the bearings, but it looks like ball bearings. I tapped a couple times downward but the shaft (about a quarter inch diameter) didn't move. The bottom end (drive end) would need that bigger shaft removed for it to go up. That's where I didn't know what kind of forces or tricks are required.
