There are distinct components that make the difference. A Stage 2 has (usually) factory installed live hydraulics (pump at the distributor). It also has the battery under the seat (not under the gas tank) they do not have "belly pump" systems Differences may also include starting lever position, Two way hydraulic "christmas tree hydraulic valve, and minor changes.
