And it is NOT harmful to the rims if you actually repair the tire when it develops a leak and clean it up. We have tractors that are almost 50 years old and have had chloride since new and the rims look like new when we replace or repair tires.
If weights were the most efficient/cost effective way to weight a tractor, you would definitaly see more tractors with cast weights sticking out past the axles!
Some say beet juice works as well, but again, not as much weight per gallon.
Having said all that, a stock M does not have enough horsepower to need more than a few sets of cast weights, so it is ultimately your preference.
