I woudn't try to weld anything to the cross shaft, unless you do a very profesional job it really reduces the resale. And you can't weld very succesfuly to any cast iron parts of a tractor. We built the type that bolts to the four holes in the lift arms and it works quite well. I am somewhat disapointed in the amount of travel I have but the position of the toplink should not efect that greatly. The type with the U-bolts seem to work fine and would be easier to build.
