I would first check your spark its quick and easy to do and will point you which way to go. Then I would pull the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and make sure you get a good steady flow of gas for 2-5 minutes. If you do then pull the main jet and spray it out good with carb cleaner, leave the drain plug out when you do that. Been a coulpe years since I messed with a 300 but if it has the main jet that lays down on the bottom of the carb you can also pull it out and turn on the gas and make sure you get a good flow there. If you don't get a good flow in both places its time to open up the carb unless of couse you don't have a good spark
