I have a 464D that I would like to replace the two lower lift arms. I have searched eveywhere to locate a used set but have no luck. A new one is $475 each. The ends are wore out and have actually been replaced and kind of a "hack" job. I purchased the repair ends and was thinking about making a whole new set. What type metal would be suited for this and would it need to be hardened or tempered? The originals look like a hot roll metal about .625 thick and 3.5" at widest point and tappered down to 2.375 at ends. What would be the original distance from hole center to center on ends, looks close to 29"? I work at a machine shop so I have access to the metal but unsure of type and hardness best to be used? The replacement ends are straight, couldn't find the bent ends to match originals which appear to be offset 12-15 degrees but parellel to each when on arms. I guess I could have the straught ones welded on at an angle to match the slight bends.
