scotty, I also read that this gear is not splined, but is spun by the reverse idler, some have even somehow wired it in place so it would not move (with no teeth or most of the teeth missing of course) I really can't see myself getting into a big job on this one just yet. I don't hardly use it, I think I have about 2 miles on it! But I'm waiting to get a snow blade as I would like to try it out this winter. The work sounds like major. I'm confident I could do it, but not sure I want to tie up my garage if I run into more problems. gotta flush out the tranny now and take a better look.
