I use the 1100 mower exclusively. Never had a crack where you have had. I suspect the lift lever rod is out of adjustment. Also check the outer shoe for position. And check the weight of the bar. Its supposed to be about 60 lbs when set up right. Do you own the manual. Your IH dealer can get one for you.
