I have never seen another firing order for an inline four besides the one MikeCA posted.
Have you cleaned / gapped the points ? Checked the valve timing against the timing marks ? The intake valve should close and the timing marks should come into alignment ( I can't imagine that they were running a lot of valve overlap or radical timing). Do the valves close ? Is the distributor / mag rotor pointed at the #1 plug wire when both valves are loose on that cylinder and the timing marks line up? Are the coil, condensor, points any good ? Does it have compression ? Is there power to the distributor? Is the mag grounded ?
