Ok, I went and looked at both tractors carefully and wrote the stuff down. I looked the numbers up carefully in the book.
Tractor "A", the one with the "missing" displacement number has a casting of 6722 DJ and a date code of 7-13-T, making it a 1950 block. Also I looked up the serial number again and it is a 1950 tractor. For some reason I thought it was a 52! I've had it for years and must have looked it up wrong a long time ago. My mistake on that one. Also the serial number on the block is precisely 11,000 numbers different then that on the tag, and according to some discussions in the archives, this was common in the later M's. Would you agree that this is the original block for this tractor?
Tractor "B" serial number makes it a '51. it does say C248 and also 6943DJ. The date code is 10-27-E which if I understand correctly would make it a 1959 casting! That clears things up. I'm glad you're around.
Now to clarify what you said earlier, it's possible that this replacement block has bigger _sleeve_ bores or the actual bigger sleeves?
