Chad, To try to shed some light on the subject, mostly from memory, but some from Guy Fay's IH Tractor Data Book, which is an excellent, if not better, source: 1. Factory power steering was an option. 2. Live PTO was an option, but live hydraulics were standard. 3.The 2 point fast-hitch was standard (I think), but a conventional swinging drawbar was available. Also, a fast-hitch to 3-point adapter was available from IH, although they are kind of hard to find now. Alternately, some aftermarket parts can be found from Central Tractor Supply, among others. 4.I have 2 - paid about $2500 each here in central PA. Both in good running and looking, but not restored, condition. 5.They would hold their own with a JD 720/730. 6.Parts are still available, although only a brave, or, formally rich person will venture into the the guts of these engines. They're anything but cheap to rebuild. 7.From a later post, the correct spark plugs are Champion D89D, for which a newer number is Stock Number 543. I've gotten these from NAPA, at about $6-$7 a throw, but they work fine for me. I've got "several" of these 4 cylinder diesels, and love them all. They're a real tractor, and lug with the best, when they're set up right. 8. Glad you've started to see the light - welcome in advance to the red paint club. Good luck. Smitholm

Silo Filling Time On dairy farms back in the 30's and into the first half of the 40's, making of corn silage was done with horses pulling a corn binder producing tied bundles of fresh, sweet-smelling corn plants, nice green leaves with ear; the
