That arcing connection no longer exists once the solenoid is no longer energized. I agree with the other gents, sounds like a loose or carboned up or otherwise poor connection which hopefully removal n cleaning n wire brushing of alllll components n terminals n studs etc may cure UNLESS its a poor cable end crimp and the carbon n arcing is taking place where you cant remove n fix it like under the crimp between it n the cable grrrrrrr?????
