He had a problem with pilferage, so he took about 20 pieces of firewood, drilled a big hole down the middle, filled them with gunpowder, hammered a plug in, and put them at the end of the stack. When the neighbor's wood cook stoves started blowing up for no reason, the pilferage stopped.
