Find the date code on larger castings such as the engine block, head, transmission housing, axle housings, etc. These tell you the day/month/year each part was poured at the foundry.
USUALLY a tractor was assembled within a few weeks following the dates showing on it's larger castings. So generally you can discern your what year your tractor was built by checking date codes. (Presuming no large parts have been replaced that is...)

Date code format is like this: XX - YY - Z, where XX is the number of the month, YY is the day number, and Z is a letter code representing the year.
The year letter codes are: A = 1931 B = 1932 C = 1933 etc... U and W were both used in 1951 (and the letter V was skipped.) X = 1952 Y = 1953 Z = 1954 A = 1955 (series starts over...)
