Dave the best news is that there is a packing nut on the shutoff. It should be just tight enough to allow turning the valve off and on with pretty good finger pressure. The valve must be shut off between uses of the tractor. Even a half hour or less should have the valve shut off. If you ask every owner of a gravity feed fuel system they will tell you that their valve handles are polished from use. The leaking of fuel into a garage, and the filling of engines with fuel from leaky needle and seats causes serious problems and fires. It is a MUST do. JimN
