Thanks for all the information! Hugh I have thought about doing just what you said. The only thing is that I do not have the arm that goes to the starter, course thats just a lame excuse I could easily fabricate one. SuperA I have been thru the same One from here onr from the parts store (not one of the chain so called parts stores)The last one lasted about 3 months. The tractor is negative ground 12 volt as stated. I noticed today that the jumper cables that I was using from the positive terminal to the starter to crank it was very hot. So hot that it burned when I removed from the battery terminal. Would that indicate that the starter is drawing excessive amps? What do I need to rebuild the starter. I have only changed the bendix on a starter. Thanks Again! Keith
