I appreciate your response & will try the forward 'rake' on the deck. One clarification, though, it is a dual spindle & I have seen these both ways: left spindle turning CW, right turning CCW as well as those with left-CCW & right-CW. The former makes sense to me as it should yield primary discharge to the rear (don't drive over debris again) & not throwing debris forward to tractor/driver. But this one of mine still has the decals showing dir of rotation on it and was set up as the latter, but given it's poor performance , I have now reversed it. I believe it is a somewhat better.
Do you or anyone know if there is a standard or is it common for them to be either way. Someone a few weeks ago said some JD models were like the latter (above).
