Thanks everyone for your help. I pulled the head and got the valves loose. I have some questions about putting the head back on (as I have never done it): 1. Seeing as it is a cast-iron block and head, can I use a scraper or razer blade to get the old head gasket off, or what should I use? 2. Is it permissable to reuse head bolts on these motors, or do you need to replace them after each removal? 3. It says in the service manual to coat the top of the block with a thin layer of lubricant. What lubricant should I use (grease, engine oil, etc.)? Thanks.
