Evan: I doubt if there are very many high crop 656 utilities around, it's the first one I've seen. Hitch welds on a 656 shouldn't give you a whole lot to be concerned about, it was a weak point for that size tractor in my opinion.
My biggest concern would be an old hydro, but it sounds as though yours has had a recent rebuild, being good forward, reverse, low and high. In my day I worked mainly with quite new tractors, thus many of the problem we see on here today had not yet happened in my time. Having followed YT discussion close to 8 years now, and the problems folks encounter buying these 30, 40, 50 and 60 year old tractors, hydraulic problems seem to be the most common that surprise new buyers of old tractors. Hydraulic being the one function that looks decent with tractor cold yet falls apart fastest with heat buildup.
