Hope he dont let the smoke out lol cuz then that lectrical stuff stops workin. I agree with ya that lil side No 1 excitation terminal ought to read fairly low resistance to frame cuz if you apply voltage to it as you described n shes not running, thats how n why n where an idiot light gets a ground current return path to lite the bulb Eh. Then once shes running and self exciting theres near the same voltage there as on the input so theres no current flow through the light n she goes out, at least thats they way I understand em to work but Im more of a genny kinda guy.
