Lanse: NEVER mess with a battery trying to disable it. It emits hydrogen gas that is very explosive. I mean like it will ruin your day not to mention your face and clothes. Hydrogen gas plus a spark will put you in the hospital.
Your post are annoying but I don't want to see anyone injured due to ignorance. Let the guy make a few dollars. If you don't like him then haul you r battery to the junk yard and pay to have it disposed of.
