Yes, it runs rich, as all 4 plugs are black, however, it always smoked when it wasn"t under load, and all 4 plugs have always been black. The dealer put richer jets in it because the combine would fall flat on its face when it was working at full load. Since the jets were changed, it ran great under load, but would load up on fuel when standing still. I just ran it again and noticed that at idle, there is a definite and consistent plunk in the air cleaner, which makes me think it is backfiring through the carb on one or two cylinders. With such good compression, it couldn"t be valves, could it?
