Its a pretty simple engine, check ignition system including timing, fuel flow. valve adjustment, or a defective governor can make them slugish. also could have a tired engine with low compression. that could be checked also. As others have already posted its a 1951 model farmall M tractor. It has a distributor that is probably original. The hydraulic pump is the type that IH started using on some 1953 SM tractors. For some W series tractors the pump was avalible before that. Tractor has a charr lynn power steerig system added on with eaton pump. Tractor still has a IH manifold. Original engine should have a serial # 256644 X1

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
