factory wide front wide rods out front

Ive got an early wide front that was on an M and I want to put this one on an H. I am wondering is the 1/2 plate that moves the axle under the tractor the same other then the width? I am planning on cutting a bit off each side to match the width of the H but need to make sure it isnt longer as well. Thanks Paul
