Disconnect both ends of the wire. Use an ohm meter to be sure it is not melted through to other wires or ground within the loom. If it is not crossed to anything, I would look it over for bare spots and tape it as rusty indicates. Melted wires that are dammaged can cause additional fires when re used. The safest method is to use another 10gauge wire and new connectors, abandoning the old wire. Then tape the new so it doesnot chafe on anything. JimN
