This has 6V pos ground. New wiring (although I used the crimp not the solder). The generator, dsitributor, starter have all been checked at a reputable shop. The voltage regulator is the second one in six months. The first one may have been ruined by me when I was getting the charge indicator on the dash to function (switching wires). The battery is also the second one in six months, the dealer replaced the first because it wouldn't take a charge. But now I wonder if the dead regulator also killed the first battery. The battery is dead again. It will start after I charge for an hour or so. I just make sure that I don't shut off the tractor until I get it back in the barn. What should I be looking for? Should I just forget it all and switch to 12 volt? Since I can't afford that, I will just keep recharging the battery. Where does the ignition voltage come from? Direct from the generator? Or from the battery? Could vibration be killing the regulators? I had to build my own bracket, could I have messed that up?

The need for fabricating becomes obvious when you go to buy any of these
