966D TA

I have a situation with the TA on my 966. It will go fine in TA and does not slip at all, but when the handle is in direct it acts like it is in neutral for a few seconds then jumps into direct. Is this an adjustment or a split and new TA situation? Sometimes it takes a while for it to get to direct, but then seems to work ok after that.
