Moderate load at 3/4 throttle should come in between 1 and 1.5 gallons per hour. I had two 282 diesels close to 17 years each and total of 25,000 hours on the two, (560 and 656). On a 9' haybine they would hit the 1 Imperial gallon per hour, roughly 1.25 US gallons. I don't think they hit the 2 gallon mark on any work, even plowing or disking. Truly the most efficient diesels I ever owned. My 1066 would burn 5 times the fuel, but it didn't generate 5 times the hp.
