Doug, I had an International 240 that had such a hot hydraulic pump it immediately blistered the "hide" on the mechanics hand when he touched it. Problem was diagnosed as a plugged screen in one of the hydraulic valves (as JJ has setting on the "unused" kitchen counter top). Yup, the heat is bad as it can ruin the pump. Possible one of the small pins is broke? When the pump is "used" by operating a lever, pressure flows through the system and thus no straining same. You won"t want to run it for long, but if you need to move the tractor, hold one of the levers allowing the system to operate and it shouldn"t over heat, note I said shouldn"t.
