It is clear that most of the transmission parts between the M and MTA are not interchangeable. However, the MTA parts book lists the mainshaft (with differential pinion) as fitting M and SM.
It is also clear that the M differential and ring gear will fit all M size tractors through 660. I think that there is a good possibility that 560 differential ratios might fit any M. The limiting factor is the main shaft and it would have to be visually compared. That could be done at any good tractor salvage yard.
