Diagrams are in the archives, so I will give some words.
A spool valve for two way cylinders(if open center system) in a diagram looks like a plus mark + the pressure goes into the in port Left projecting part of the + and goes around the spool valve and out the opposite side to the resivoir. A cylinder is placed so that the end ports of the 2way cylinder are connected to each end of the vertical part of the plus mark.
As the spool is moved in the valve, it shuts off the return flow (across the valve) as it directs fluid to one of the two cylinder hoses. It also lets fluid back into the other port and from there it returns to the resivoir.
If the valve is then returned to the middle, the port that was getting oil is again sealed off, as is the other port to the cylinder. the center is again open, allowing fluid to go left to right through the + valve. This holds the cylinder in that position. If the spool is moved in the opposite direction, the inlet port is connected to the other cylinder hose, and the return flow is again stopped causing the cylinder to move in the opposite direction. the fluid in the other end of the cylinder comes back (in what was a supply line and is now a return line) and goes to the outlet connection to the resivoir.
More than one two way cyl;inder can be connected to work this way, just put a T at one cylinder and run a hose to the same end on the other cylinder. Do this at both ends and all is well. Good luck JimN<
