not sure about what type of rear this tractor has , but my 2500 same as the 574 has planetary gears in it,after well actually close to the end but during the dig of my new foundation I heard the same noise, I ended up eating the planetary gears and driveshaft,, hope its simpler than that, 1200.00 used parts and 1 week later had it back together, although mine had a backhoe attached which made it harder,, good luck pat,, hopefully its an easier and simpler fix,
