6vdc to 12vdc positive ground

1948 'M' Farmall . Wanting to go to 12v battery for a little more cranking power during winter. Would like to have a wiring diagram, to do this right. Have 12v generator, regulator, 12v battery. Dose it need a 12v coil also. And what about the resistor. How do I tell what size is needed for it. Thanks for any help we get.
