Clutch only jumpy in reverse

I have a 300u without T/A and it has a jumpy clutch in reverse only. From the info I have received, I need to split the tractor and see what is wrong. What I don't understand is why the clutch is jumpy only in reverse. Can someone please explain what could cause this? The only other imperfection in the drive train is 4th gear is only a little loud. Thanks for reading and looking forward to the responses.
