new steering gears?

Hello, Tore the front steering down on my "53 SM and was disapointed to find that the steering gear is only half a gear. I was hoping I could rotate the gear 180 degrees when I rebuild to take up some of the slop. What years did they have the full round gear? Does anyone make new ones? What are the steps to take to get all the slop out of the front end? I plan on doing a full rebuild. Thanks, Mark
