Does the Super C have O-rings on sleeves

I recently acquired a Super C but when I started it the blow-by was immense. There was smoke coming from everyplace it could come out. I took the motor apart and found that the sleeve in #1 was really rusted and corroded severely. However, I did not notice an O-ring on the sleeve when I removed it from the block. Am I hallucinating or did IHC not use O-rings on these wet sleeves? Maybe I didn't look close enough and there may be one still in the block. If there are no O-rings how did they seal? Thanks.
