SMTA had live Hydro and Live PTO That tractor had what became the 400 differential trans. It is way different. No Ms or SMs had real Live PTO, and it is not reasonably possible to put on on. The M&W hand clutch is an accessory which replaced the left differential output pinion/brake shaft, with a disk clutch that allowed the drive line forward of the pinions to remain connected to the engine. This stops the rear axles from turning when tha M&W clutch is disengauged. Thus the power take off, and belly hydraulic pump would still be rotating and usable. The down side is that the transmission was still rotating, and could not be shifted (adequately) while the master (regular) clutch is out (engauged). I hope this explanation works for you. JimN
