Since you have that much apart mite as well finish the job. There is a key on the gear in the steering box that may be worn also. I would replace the seals and bushings too. The bearing on the end of the steering shaft mite also need replacing doesent take too much a little here and a litel there. If that key was loose the arn should have fell off. Better keep on looking as i bet there is more problems. I have rebuilt several.
