It could be the coil, the points, the condenser or the on/off ignition switch. I would most definitely change out the points and condensor if I was working on a tractor with no spark and which had been sitting for 20 years. From there, I would check out the ignition wiring for frayed bare spots which could short, and then I would change the coil. Are you sure you have a coil? You said you have not worked on tractors that much before; many of the M's had magneto ignitions instead of the battery ignitions which had coils. Do you have the battery hooked up correctly? If it is still 6v, it is most likely positive ground - the opposite of machines today. mike
