spacer for manifold

Has anyone ever had to build a spacer plate for there manifold on there Farmall M or W-6? I had taken my manifold to a machine shop to have them true it and now it's to close to the head. The tube between the carburator a governor doesn't line up. I was thinking about taking some 1/8" plate and making a spacer out of it, then put a gasket on both sides. I don't think stacking 3 gaskets together would last very long on the exhaust side. What do ya'll think. Any ideas? Charles
