A battery not under load will read 12+ volts. The measurement needed is the volts when cranking/trying to crank. Connect a volt meter to the posts of the battery (not the clamps) and (in neutral with brakes set) have someone crank it. If the voltage stays pretty high, there is a connection problem, or starter problem. If the voltage drops to 7-8 volts the battery is either not charged, or toast. If it stays high try measuring between the starter input terminal (starter moter side of solenoid) and good ground. If the voltage is low there (6-8volts) the issue is in the battery cables or ground connection. OOOrrr the starter is stuck or shorted. Loosen the starter at its mounting bolts and wiggle it. then tighten the bolts. If it starts then, it probably needs a starter drive. Best of luck, JimN
